Competitor Profile
Where this is heading
Seapoint is an AI-native finance-operations platform for pre-seed to Series A startups, founded by ex-Stripe operator Sean Mullaney. What distinguishes it is genuine unification rather than integration: banking, bookkeeping, payroll and treasury sit in one stack, with a 3.44% treasury yield as the commercial hook.
Seapoint is headquartered in Dublin and London. Five independent sources place it there, and nothing corroborates a Munich base. Any positioning built on a German head office is wrong.
The read: Seapoint does not calculate payroll at all. Per its own FAQ the customer's accountant produces the payroll, as a PDF, an Excel file or a BrightPay export, and Seapoint ingests that document and executes the payment. Pricing is published, from free through GBP 29 and GBP 199 Growth to custom Scale, with a pre-seed discount. The European framing needs care: the site's own structured data claims EU coverage while self-service reaches only the UK and Ireland, and nothing found supports the wider claim. It is a watch item on the AI-native finance-ops thesis rather than a competitor in any current deal, and the signal to watch is whether payroll graduates from feature to product line.

How the product hangs together, at the level a product leader needs to place it.
Seapoint is an AI-native financial operations platform built for venture-backed startup founders, positioned as a single financial home rather than a point solution. The product spans business accounts (multi-currency, GBP/EUR/USD, with transparent FX rates), team cards with real-time spend controls, invoicing (capture, approval and automatic detail extraction), AI-driven bookkeeping (transaction categorization that learns patterns, with real-time Xero synchronization), treasury (cash placed into BlackRock Money Market Funds via regulated partner Wealthkernel, a formal partnership announced March 5, 2026, published at 3.44% return), consolidated reporting and cash-flow visibility (burn rate and runway tracking across accounts), and payroll.
Payroll within Seapoint is confirmed, via the company's own FAQ, to be a document-ingestion and payment-execution layer rather than a statutory payroll engine. Seapoint's own words: "Your accountant still handles gross-to-net calculations, tax codes, and edge cases. Seapoint picks up from the payroll document, extracting every payment so you don't have to re-enter bank details into your financial account." Supported input formats are PDFs, BrightPay pay schedules, Excel sheets and custom payment schedules; BrightPay, a widely used Irish and UK payroll package, is the only named third-party payroll tool, strongly suggesting it is the most common source document Seapoint customers already produce elsewhere. Seapoint extracts the tax and pension lines from the payroll document and schedules them alongside net pay in the same batch, then executes same-day payment via Faster Payments (UK) and SEPA Instant (EU). No payroll-as-a-service API partner (of the kind used by some fintech peers) was found named anywhere; the architecture is document parsing plus payment execution, not a calculation engine of its own, and this is Seapoint's own stated design, not an inferred gap.
Seapoint is not a chartered bank; it operates through regulated partners, specifically Modulr FS Limited (FCA-regulated Electronic Money Institution, FRN 900573) for banking and payment rails, Wealthkernel (FRN 723719, appointed representative) for the treasury/money-market-fund product, and Yapily Connect Limited for open-banking connectivity to 2,000-plus banks. Integration breadth includes Xero (two-way sync roughly every 10 minutes), Stripe, Gmail and Airwallex, and Seapoint markets a 10-minute setup via open-banking connections rather than a lengthy onboarding process.
Seapoint operates through two registered entities: Seapoint Finance Limited (Irish, CRO-registered, incorporated July 10, 2024, Dublin 2) and Seapoint Finance UK Limited (Companies House number 16138873, incorporated December 16, 2024, registered in London). Headcount has no single authoritative figure across sources, estimates range from 16 (BuiltIn) to 28 listed on LinkedIn, with Seapoint's own about-us page stating 20 people and press coverage describing 20 engineers and operators; the low twenties as of mid-2026 is the best-supported estimate. Traction figures from Seapoint's own seed-round blog post: 80-plus companies using the platform, 100,000-plus transactions processed, 40,000-plus invoices processed, and a customer base that doubled in the three months before the seed round. Named customers in testimonials include Klara, Inovara and Tito.
The target customer is narrowly defined: venture-backed startups from pre-seed through Series A in the UK and Ireland, with European ambitions signaled by the company's own funding-round framing (raising in euros, describing itself as the financial home for Europe's startup founders) even though current self-service coverage, per sources found, is UK and Ireland specifically rather than pan-European.
03
Geographic footprint, and where payroll is native rather than partner-delivered.
United Kingdom: NATIVE for banking, expenses, bookkeeping and payroll payment execution (Faster Payments same-day settlement), via the regulated EMI partner Modulr. Seapoint does not itself hold a UK banking license; it operates through Modulr's FCA authorization, a partner-delivered regulatory model common among fintech challengers rather than a Seapoint-specific weakness. No source found confirms or denies UK Construction Industry Scheme support; this remains unverified and should not be assumed either way. Statutory payroll calculation itself (PAYE, RTI) is explicitly not something Seapoint performs, per its own FAQ; that work sits with the customer's accountant or existing payroll software, most commonly evidenced as BrightPay, before Seapoint ever touches the data.
Ireland: NATIVE for banking and payroll payment execution alongside the UK, per Seapoint's own self-service launch (April 2026) and its registered Irish entity, Seapoint Finance Limited. Same document-in, payment-out architecture applies; PAYE/PRSI calculation is the accountant's or payroll software's responsibility, not Seapoint's.
North America: NOT SERVED. Seapoint's own pricing page FAQ states plainly that USD pricing arrives when the company launches in the US, which both confirms no current US presence and signals US entry as a stated future intent rather than a live market. No US or Canadian product, customer base, or banking partner was found in any source.
South Africa: NOT SERVED. No source found indicates any South African presence, banking connectivity or customer base.
EU/EMEA: Positioned as target market but materially thinner in confirmed depth than the UK and Ireland self-service reality. The seapoint.co/payroll page's own schema.org structured data lists areaServed as GB, IE, and a generic "EU," and the page's meta description reads "Run payroll across the UK and EU from one account," but no press coverage, case study or named customer found in published sources corroborates live, self-service statutory payroll in any specific EU country beyond Ireland. This is a marketing and SEO-level claim that runs ahead of the confirmed operating reality (UK and Ireland self-service, live) and should be treated as a discrepancy to note for buyer diligence, not as evidence of genuine multi-country EU coverage. Seapoint's payroll product supports SEPA Instant for same-day EU payments, and its funding was raised and reported in euros with explicit European-founder framing, but concrete statutory depth in named EU countries beyond Ireland was not found and should be verified directly before being claimed as comprehensive.
04
Seapoint sells to founders of venture-backed startups, pre-seed through Series A, pitching itself as the tool that recovers 10 to 20 hours a month of finance admin time by consolidating banking, bookkeeping, expenses, invoicing, treasury and payroll into one AI-native interface instead of five to six separate vendors. The company's own language, financial home for Europe's startup founders, positions it directly against the fragmented status quo of a startup running separate tools for banking, Xero, expense cards, a treasury product and a payroll vendor.
Pricing is fully published on seapoint.co/pricing, a genuine differentiator against many AI-native fintech peers that remain quote-only. Free is GBP0/month, forever free, with up to 2 connected accounts, 90-day AI reporting and bill payments (treasury fees of 0.25% and FX fees of 0.50% apply). Data and Reporting is GBP29/month after a 3-month free trial, adding unlimited bank connections and full AI reporting. Growth, marked as the recommended tier, is GBP199/month after a 3-month free trial and is positioned to replace a startup's entire finance stack: unlimited team members, Xero sync, payroll, treasury and invoicing. Scale is custom-quoted, aimed at seed-plus companies with 10 or more employees, more than GBP1M in raised capital, or a dedicated finance-operations function, with the same capabilities as Growth scoped via a sales call. A pre-seed discount cuts Growth to GBP50/month (EUR50/month) for the first 12 months for companies under 2 years old that have raised less than GBP1M, activated manually by contacting Seapoint with raise amount and incorporation date. Annual billing carries a 10% discount. GBP and EUR pricing run at parity (GBP199 equals EUR199), and Seapoint's own FAQ states USD pricing arrives only when the company launches in the US, confirming no current US pricing or presence. There are no contracts or lock-in; billing is month to month unless annual is selected.
AI is bundled into the core product rather than metered separately: the AI-driven bookkeeping, invoice-extraction, payroll-document-extraction and categorization features are described as inherent to the platform across all paid tiers rather than an add-on, consistent with the company's AI-native positioning at the architecture level.
05
Seapoint's shipped AI capability, based on sources found, centers on financial-operations automation rather than a conversational assistant or agentic execution layer: automatic invoice data extraction from captured invoices, automatic extraction of payment, tax and pension line items from customer-supplied payroll documents (PDFs, BrightPay exports, Excel sheets), transaction categorization that improves as it learns a company's patterns, and consolidated financial analysis and reporting across multiple accounts. These are live product features per the company's own site and press coverage of the April 2026 seed round and self-service launch, not announced-but-unshipped roadmap items.
No first-party MCP server was found for Seapoint in any source in published sources. No named AI model provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, or other) was found disclosed in any source. No agentic, autonomous-execution capability (an AI agent independently initiating payments, payroll runs, or account actions without a human trigger) was found described for Seapoint, in contrast to the explicitly agentic positioning found for peers like Round; Seapoint's AI claims found in sources are consistently framed around automation of extraction, categorization and reporting rather than autonomous multi-step financial execution.
The most accurate posture classification based on available evidence is AI-native platform at the architecture and marketing level (AI woven through bookkeeping, categorization, document extraction and reporting from the ground up, per the company's own framing) but not yet agentic or MCP-exposed in the sense of autonomous execution or third-party AI-agent connectivity; this should be treated as the current state, not as a permanent ceiling, since a pre-seed-to-Series-A-stage company eighteen months past founding moves quickly and this could change without further notice being obvious from outside sources.
06
Diagnosis and the play together. Each is a live attack vector, not a general weakness.
Seapoint's payroll is confirmed, in the company's own words, to be a document-ingestion and payment-execution layer, not a statutory payroll calculation engine: the customer's accountant or existing payroll software, evidenced specifically as BrightPay, does the gross-to-net calculation, tax codes and edge-case handling, and Seapoint only reads the resulting document and moves the money. A vendor that calculates and files statutory payroll itself, end to end, rather than depending on an external document as its source of truth, has a materially cleaner claim of compliance ownership and fewer failure points (a malformed or late payroll document from the accountant is now also a Seapoint payment-timing risk) than what Seapoint's own architecture describes.
Geographic scope is genuinely UK and Ireland at self-service launch, and the company's own payroll-page marketing (schema.org data and meta description claiming EU-wide payroll) runs ahead of what any source found actually corroborates in named EU countries beyond Ireland; a vendor with confirmed, evidenced multi-country EU statutory depth can contest any buyer whose team already spans, or plans to soon span, EU countries beyond Ireland, and can also point to this specific marketing-versus-reality gap as a due-diligence flag worth raising directly with Seapoint.
Seapoint operates through partners for banking (Modulr), treasury (Wealthkernel/BlackRock) and open banking (Yapily) rather than owning these functions directly; this is a normal and common fintech architecture, not inherently a weakness, but it does mean Seapoint's regulatory standing is inherited from its partners' licenses rather than its own, a distinction worth surfacing accurately (never as if Seapoint itself holds a banking license) against any vendor that does hold its own regulatory authorization.
At roughly EUR10M total raised, no disclosed valuation, and a headcount estimated in the low twenties, Seapoint is materially earlier-stage and less capitalized than incumbent payroll and finance-ops vendors; a buyer prioritizing vendor durability and multi-year roadmap certainty over the newest AI-native tooling has a reasonable, evidence-based reason to prefer an incumbent, an attack vector that does not require disparaging Seapoint's product, only naming the stage-risk tradeoff plainly. Seapoint also has no found presence on G2, Capterra or Trustpilot, meaning there is no independent third-party review signal to corroborate customer satisfaction beyond the company's own testimonials.
